An anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land manga series has been announced and is scheduled to air in 2023. Studios Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and ANIMA are handling the animation production for the upcoming web anime. Information about the production staff and voice cast members will be revealed at a later date.

A special announcement for SAND LAND was teased by Bandai Namco just last week and the production team released a new 55-second PV trailer for the anime adaptation.

Toriyama’s original manga is a short series that was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May 22, 2000 to August 28, 2000. A single tankoubon volume was released on November 2, 2000.

Viz Media publishes Sand Land in English and describes the synopsis as:

In the far future, war has destroyed the entire Earth, leaving only a barren wasteland where the supply of water is controlled by the greedy king. In search of a long-lost lake, Sheriff Rao asked the king of the demons for help…and got the king’s son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. Together the unlikely trio sets off across the desert, facing dragons, bandits and the deadliest foe of all… the King’s army itself! It’s travel adventure and tank action in this new story from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z!

An official website for the SAND LAND anime has also been launched to provide more details and information.
