The production team for the fifth season of Bungo Stray Dogs announced that voice actor Kenjirou Tsuda will join the voice cast as Bram Stoker — an immortal being who is an ally of Fyodor Dostoyevsky and a member of The Decay of the Angel. Bram will appear in the fifth season’s fourth episode, which will be the 54th episode in the overall anime series.

Season five of Bungo Stray Dogs first premiered on July 12, 2023. The first two anime seasons were released in 2016, while the third was released in 2019. Season four premiered earlier this year. An anime movie titled Bungo Stray Dogs: DEAD APPLE was released in 2018. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the film and all previous seasons as well.

The returning production staff for the fifth season includes Takuya Igarashi as director, Youji Enokido as series screenwriter, Yumiko Kondou as art director, Yukari Gotou as color designer, Tsuyoshi Kanbayashi as compositing director, and Taku Iwasaki as music composer. Bones is handling the animation production for the series.

The anime is based on the manga series written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, which was first serialized in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine on December 4, 2012. Twenty-three tankoubon volumes have been released as of December 2022, with a 24th volume set for release on September 4, 2023.

A spin-off manga titled Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! was adapted into a 2021 anime that was co-produced by Bones with Nomad. Aside from the anime, the manga has also inspired a live-action movie, stage play, light novels, and more.

Some of the new cast members that joined in Season 4 include Takehito Koyasu as Nikolai G, Makoto Koichi as Teruko Okura, Akio Ootsuka as Ochi Fukuchi, Takeshi Kusao as Mushitarou Oguri, and Shouya Chiba as Sigma.
