Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out is a sequel to the 2018 Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai anime series and the 2019 Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl movie. The movie first premiered in Japan on June 23, and a follow-up film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid, is set for a December Japanese release. The two movies will conclude protagonist Sakuta’s high school era.
Yen Press describes the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out volume of the original light novel series as:
After a draining December, Sakuta is quickly nearing the end of his second year of high school. Since Mai is a third-year student, they don’t have much time left together before graduation rolls around. Meanwhile, his sister, Kaede, is slowly but steadily venturing outdoors again. Just as she begins to find her footing, she announces her most ambitious goal yet—attending her brother’s high school! Sakuta knows better than anyone how difficult this will be for Kaede, and he’s ready to support her however he can. He’s just not sure if that’s what’s best for her…or what she really wants…
The returning staff for Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out includes Souichi Masui as director, Masahiro Yokotani as series composer and scriptwriter, and Satomi Tamura as character designer. CloverWorks is the animation production company again. The cast includes:
• Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa
• Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima
• Nao Touyama as Tomoe Koga
• Atsumi Tanezaki as Rio Futaba
• Maaya Uchida as Nodoka Toyohama
• Yurika Kubo as Kaede Azusagawa

The KADOKAWA-published Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keiji Mizoguchi began publication in 2014 and has 13 volumes as of July 2023. The series sees Sakuta helping various girls who suffer from a supernatural affliction dubbed Adolescence Syndrome, which is related to the social issues they face in the real world.
