The Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian anime adaptation has received a stream of new information. Key reveals include Ryouta Itou (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie, My Senpai is Annoying) as the director, Yuuhei Murota (Love Live! Sunshine!!) as character designer and chief animation director, and Doga Kobo as the animation production studio.
In addition, there is a teaser visual and a few supporting cast member reveals. The latter include Wakana Maruoka as Yuki Suou, Yukiyo Fujii as Masha, and Saya Aizawa as Ayano Kimishima.
The previously announced lead cast members are Sumire Uesaka as the titular Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou and Kouhei Amasaki as Masachika Kuze. Ueska and Amasaki previously voiced these characters for the light novels’ promotional videos.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is based on the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko light novel series written by Sunsunsun with Momoko as illustrator. The books began in 2021 and have eight volumes (including a short story collection) as of September 2023.
Yen Press describes the light novels as:
Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou is Seiren Private Academy’s “solitary princess.” She’s a half-Russian beauty with silver hair, at the top of her class, student council accountant, and…completely unapproachable. For some reason, she’s also taken on the responsibility of reprimanding the slacker who sits next to her in class. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian was originally a short story that was published on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2020. A Kodansha-published manga adaptation by Saho Tenamachi began in October 2022.
