A new PV trailer has been released for the second season of Baki Hanma to promote the season’s TV broadcast in Japan. All 27 episodes of season two are now streaming on Netflix.
The second season of Baki Hanma is the sequel to 2018’s Baki and 2021’s Baki Hanma. The first cour adapts “The Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga” and premiered on July 26, 2023. The second cour premiered on August 24, 2023 and adapts “The Father VS Son Saga.”
The production staff for the series includes Toshiki Hirano as director, Tatsuhiko Urahata as series screenwriter, and Shingo Ishikawa as character designer. TMS Entertainment is handling the animation production for the series.
Meanwhile, the voice cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki as Baki Hanma, Akio Ootsuka as Yujiro Hanma, Houchuu Ootsuka as Biscuit Oliva, Kenji Nojima as Jun Guevara, and Mami Koyama as Maria.
The anime is based on the long-running manga by Keisuke Itagaki, which has run in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shounen Champion for multiple installments since October 1991. There are currently six main Baki manga series and various spin-offs in publication. The first main entry was 1999’s Baki the Grappler, while the latest is the ongoing Bakidou, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion on March 8, 2019.
The manga series has also inspired two OVAs in 1994 and 2016. It also received its first anime adaptation that lasted for 48 episodes from January 8, 2001 to December 24, 2001.
