The original, mahjong-themed anime Pon no Michi has a new key visual, which gives us a closer look at its five heroines (and bird-like mahjong spirit). There’s also a short character trailer for one of the main girls, Nashiko Jippensha.
Pon no Michi will premiere in Japan in January 2024, with the show revolving around the daily lives of several high school girls in Hiroshima’s Onomichi City who hang out at a former mahjong parlor. The character designs are based on drafts from The Quintessential Quintuplets manga artist Negi Haruba.
Tatsuma Minamikawa (Fire Force Season 2 director and series composer) is directing and writing the anime with character designs from Kenji Oota (Lance N’ Masques). OLM is the animation production company. The cast includes Kaori Maeda as Nashiko Jippensha, Iori Saeki as Pai Kawahigashi, Shion Wakayama as Izumi Tokutomi, Yui Kondou as Riche Hayashi, and Hibiku Yamamura as Haneru Emi.
The first key visual was released last month.
