The Twilight Out of Focus anime adaptation announced earlier this year has received a teaser visual depicting its lead characters, Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Otomo.
Twilight Out of Focus is based on the BL manga by Jyanome, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Honey Milk in 2018. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Yuuma Uchida are voicing Mao and Hisashi, respectively.
Kodansha USA describes the manga’s first volume as:
Film enthusiast Mao Tsuchiya and his lone wolf roommate Hisashi Otomo make three promises: ① That Mao will never tell anyone that Hisashi is gay and has a boyfriend, ② That Hisashi will never approach Mao “in that way,” and ③ That they’ll respect each other’s “private time.” The second-years’ ground rules should ensure a peaceful life together in their dorm, but reality is never as simple as it seems in the movies, and some things are not so easily promised…
The first tankoubon volume of the manga was released in 2019. The fifth part of the series, Twilight Out of Focus long take, started serialization in 2022 and released its first tankoubon volume in July of this year.
Twilight Out of Focus has also inspired a spin-off (to be published in English as Twilight Out of Focus Volume 2 with the subtitle of Afterimages in Slow Motion), a sequel, and the “fourth part” of the series Yoiyoi Monologue.
