A second season of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten has been confirmed. A teaser visual by the light novels’ illustrator Hanekoto and an announcement trailer were released as well.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten‘s first season ran from January to March. Crunchyroll describes the plot of the romantic comedy as:
To thank him for his kind gesture, Mahiru cooks and cleans for her untidy neighbor Amane. But what was just a generous show of gratitude turns into more as they grow closer. This is the story of a sweet romance between a boy and the girl next door.
The Project No.9-produced anime’s first season was initially announced with Kenichi Imaizumi (Kingdom Season 3, After School Dice Club) as director, but at some point, Imaizumi became listed as a supervisor while Lihua Wang/Reika Ou was credited as the show’s director. (Imaizumi was also involved with every episode’s storyboards.) Other staff include Keiichirou Oochi (Girlfriend, Girlfriend) as series composer, Takayuki Noguchi (Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway) as character designer, and Moe Hyuga (If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die) as music composer.
Taito Ban played protagonist Amane Fujimiya, while Manaka Iwami voiced the titular “angel” Mahiru. Other main cast members include Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa and Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa.
The SB Creative-published light novel series that inspired the anime debuted in 2019 and has 10 volumes (including short story collections) as of September 2023. Author Saeki-san initially launched the story as a web novel on Shoutsetsuka ni Narou in 2018.
The light novels, which are published under the GA Bunko label, have inspired a Square Enix-published manga adaptation by Wan Shibata. The first volume of the light novels had Hanekoto handling only the cover art while Hazano Watake drew the rest of the illustrations.
