During their industry panel at NYCC 2023, Crunchyroll revealed the first key visual and trailer for the anime adaptation of Bye Bye, Earth, which is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

Voice actress Fairouz Ai was also revealed to be voicing the main heroine Belle Lablac.

Meanwhile, the production staff consists of Yasuto Nishikata (Hortensia Saga) as director, Souta Yokote as assistant director, Hiroyuki Yoshino (World Trigger seasons 1-3) as series screenwriter, Yuki Hino as character designer, and Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss, The Rising of the Shield Hero) as music composer. LIDENFILMS is handling the animation production for the anime series.

An anime adaptation of Bye Bye, Earth was first announced last year and is the first co-production between Crunchyroll, WOWOW, and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan.

Bye Bye, Earth was first published in two volumes on December 25, 2000 by Kadokawa Shoten, with Tow Ubukata writing the story and Yoshitaka Amano providing the illustrations. From 2007 to 2008, the novels were republished under the Kadokawa Bunko label as four volumes with Kim Hyung Tae as illustrator. A manga adaptation from Shonengahosha by Ryuu Asahi was published from January 30, 2020 to July 29, 2022.

Crunchyroll will stream the anime series in more than 200 countries and territories and describes the synopsis as:

In a world of anthropomorphic animals, Belle Lablac was born as the only human being. Having no fangs, fur, or scales, she was called “Faceless,” and she lived a lonely life with no one else she could identify with.

“I want to be part of the world…”

With such longing in her heart, she decides to set out on a journey to find her roots, carrying the Runding, a great sword as tall as she is. She doesn’t know how many adversities await her along the way…
