Fans of Burn the Witch won’t have to wait too long for the upcoming Burn the Witch #0.8 anime, as an international streaming premiere date of December 29 has been announced for the prequel. In the meantime, there’s a main trailer and key visual to tide viewers over.
In addition to the new Ninny Spangcole and Noel Niihashi-centric promotional material, there are also theme song and additional cast details for Burn the Witch #0.8. For the latter, Subaru Kimura is joining the cast as Selby, the best friend of Shinba Tsuchiya‘s Balgo Parks. For the former, NiL is returning as the theme song artist, with the new song, which is previewed in the trailer, having the title of “PROVE.”
Burn The Witch is inspired by the fantasy action manga created by Bleach‘s Tite Kubo. Featuring witches and dragons in modern-day London, Burn The Witch was originally a one-shot published in 2018 in the 50th anniversary issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. A short serialization dubbed as “Season 1” in 2020 and has been compiled into one tankoubon volume.
The first Burn The Witch anime, which was also released in 2020, took the form of a movie in Japan, while overseas streaming services like Crunchyroll and Muse Asia divided it into three episodes. Crunchyroll describes it as:
Historically 72% of all the deaths in London are related to dragons, fantastical beings invisible to the majority of the people. While unknown to most, some people have been standing up to these dragons. Only inhabitants of Reverse London who live in the hidden “reverse” side of London can see the dragons. The protagonists of the story are witch duo Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. They are protection agents for Wing Bind. Their mission is to protect and manage the dragons within London on behalf of the people.
