The Blue Lock -Episode Nagi- anime movie has received a new teaser visual that depicts Seishiro Nagi and Reo Mikage’s first encounter.
Additionally, it was announced that Subaru Kimura will be part of the movie’s cast as Ryo Nameoka.
Blue Lock -Episode Nagi- will premiere in Japan in Spring 2024. It was announced in May along with a second season of the 24-episode Blue Lock soccer anime series, which premiered last October. The movie is based on the Kodansha-published spin-off manga of the same name, which began serialization in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2022.
The Blue Lock manga began in 2018 and has 25 tankoubon volumes as of July 2023. The manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the Kodansha Comics label. Muneyuki Kaneshiro is the writer for both the main series and Blue Lock -Episode Nagi- with their respective artists being Yuusuke Nomura and Kouta Sannomiya.
Kodansha USA describes Blue Lock‘s plot as:
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
