The Bocchi the Rock! anime series, an adaptation of the Houbunsha-published 4-koma manga by Aki Hamaji, premiered in October 2022 and ended with 12 episodes. The show follows the introverted Hitori “Bocchi” Gotoh, who becomes a skilled guitar player but remains awkward and withdrawn. Her life starts to change when she is invited to join a band led by the cheerful Nijika.

The Bocchi the Rock! manga began in 2018 and has six tankoubon volumes as of August 2023. It is serialized in Manga Time Kirara Max magazine and published under the Manga Time KR Comics label. A spin-off centered on the near-perpetually inebriated Kikuri Hiroi started serialization in July of this year.
