With Conan Edogawa set to cross paths with Kaito Kid/Kid the Phantom Thief again in 2024’s Detective Conan: Hyaku-man (1 million) Dollar no Michishirube movie, TOHO has announced a warm-up compilation movie titled Detective Conan vs. Kid the Phantom Thief, which will be released in Japan on January 5.
“Daitan” by WANDS will be the theme song for the compilation film.
Hyaku-man Dollar no Michishirube will premiere in Japanese cinemas on April 12. The 27th Detective Conan movie takes place in Hokkaido’s Hakodate, with a plot that involves a katana concealing a “‘truth’” and a “decisive” scramble for a treasure. Chika Nagaoka (Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet) is directing at TMS Entertainment with Takahiro Ookura (Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween) as scriptwriter and Yugo Kanno (Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine) as music composer.
The Detective Conan manga by Goushou Aoyama, titled Case Closed by Viz Media, began serialization in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994 and has 104 tankoubon volumes as of October 2023. The TV anime premiered in 1996, while the first anime film was released in 1997.
2023’s Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine is the franchise’s top-grossing film, with an all-time rank of 18 on the Japanese box office chart.
