My Hero Academia‘s fourth anime movie will be released in Japanese theaters in the summer of 2024.

It will feature an original story by the manga’s creator, Kouhei Horikoshi.

The previous My Hero Academia movies were 2018’s My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, 2019’s My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and 2021’s My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission. Kenji Nagasaki, the current chief director of the TV series (director during the first three seasons) directed them based on a script by Yousuke Kuroda, the series’ series composer.

My Hero Academia is inspired by the Shueisha-published manga series by Kouhei Horikoshi, which began serialization in 2014 and has 39 tankoubon volumes as of November 2023. The TV series first premiered in 2016, with the seventh season set to begin airing on May 4.

Viz Media describes the manga as:

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…

The anime is produced by Bones.
