The Shinkalion franchise, which features shinkansen trains that transform into robots, is getting a new anime titled Shinkalion: Change The World.
Signal.MD and Production I.G are co-producing the show. SMDE is the CG animation company.
The Shinkalion (Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion) project, which comes from the East Japan Railway Company (JR East), Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions (ShoPro), and toy maker Takara Tomy, was first announced in 2015. Before Shinkalion’s creation, a concept model of an E5 train mecha was featured at Tokyo Toy Show 2014 by JR East. The Shinkalion toys fall under Takara Tomy’s Pla Rail series.
The previous anime in the franchise include the 76-episode Shinkalion the Animation (premiered in 2018), the 41-episode Shinkalion Z (premiered in 2021), and Shinkansen the Movie (Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: Mirai kara Kita Shinsoku no ALFA-X; 2019). OLM produced the former and latter, while OLM Team Abe is credited for the animation production of Shinkalion Z.
Dinesy+ describes Shinkansen the Movie as:
Hayato works with the young version of his father to confront the strongest enemy in the universe.
