The Hunter x Hunter fighting game that was previously announced to be in development has been revealed to have the title of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact. A teaser trailer was also released.
While the teaser doesn’t contain any gameplay, it does reveal that the roster will include Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio, Isaac Netero, and Hisoka.
Hunter x Hunter was first created in 1998 as a Shueisha-published manga by Yu Yu Hakusho‘s Yoshihiro Togashi. Aside from its characters and power system, the series is noted for its numerous hiatuses. Its latest return was in October 2022, which ended the hiatus that started in November 2018. 37 tankoubon volumes have been released as of November 2022.
Manga Plus describes the synopsis as:
Gon might be a country boy, but he has high aspirations. Despite his Aunt Mito’s protests, Gon decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a legendary Hunter. The Hunter hopefuls begin their journey by storm-tossed ship, where Gon meets Leorio and Kurapika, the only other applicants who aren’t devastated by bouts of seasickness. Having survived the terrors of the high seas, Gon and his companions now have to prove their worth in a variety of tests in order to find the elusive Exam Hall. And once they get there, will they ever leave alive…?
The manga has inspired a 1998 anime pilot, a 1999 anime series, a 2011 anime remake, and two anime movies. There also several Hunter x Hunter stage plays — including this year’s upcoming Hunter x Hunter The Stage 2 — and numerous video games.
