Horror manga artist Shuuzou Oshimi is contributing an open order variant cover for the third and final issue of Somna — an erotic folk-horror comic book series by Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay, which will be released on March 27, 2024.
The collaboration is part of a new partnership between creator-owned comic publisher DSTLRY and Kodansha. The publishers expect to regularly exchange cover artists for upcoming releases to encourage new worlds, styles, and audiences.
The third issue of Somna will include covers by Oshimi, Cloonan, Lotay, & more artists. It is now available for pre-order online and will be on sale on March 27.
Shuuzou Oshimi previously worked on series such as Blood on the Tracks, The Flowers of Evil, Drifting Net Cafe, Happiness, and Inside Mari, among other titles.
DSTLRY describes the story of Somna as:
Set amidst the terrifying backdrop of the witch hunts in a quiet 1600s English village, Somna follows one woman’s escape from the confines of her puritanical world. Ingrid is unhappily married to Roland, the town’s bailiff and chief witch hunter, who has embarked on a single-minded quest to purge the ‘heretics’ in their midst. After a prominent town leader is found murdered, accusations fly and no one is above reproach from Roland’s deadly crusade. Ingrid has her suspicions about who the real murderer is, but even as she searches for the truth, she’s pursued by a shadowy figure.
