Ryoutarou Iwanaga‘s war action manga Pumpkin Scissors, which previously inspired a 2006 to 2007 anime series, is set to resume its serialization in the May 2024 issue of Monthly Shonen Magazine, which releases on April 6. It went on hiatus in 2020.

Set during a ceasefire between the Royal Empire and the Republic of Frost, the story follows the exploits of the eponymous Pumpkin Scissors unit, led by Alice Malvin and recently joined by the veteran Randel Orlando. Pumpkin Scissors made its debut in 2002 in Magazine GREAT and moved to Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2006. There are 23 tankoubon volumes as of 2019.

The manga is available in English on INKR and from Kodansha USA. The latter describes the first volume as:

The bitter war between the Empire and the Republic of Frost has ended, but three years after the ceasefire, the Empire is still ravaged by starvation and disease, and bandits terrorize the populace. Can the Imperial Army State Section III, aka Pumpkin Scissors, stop a renegade force with chemical weapons? And who is the mysterious stranger helping Pumpkin Scissors?

The TV anime adaptation was a GONZO and AIC co-production directed by Katsuhito Akiyama (Beyblade X chief director, Inazuma Eleven: Choujigen Dream Match director). It has 24 episodes.

A side story manga titled Pumpkin Scissors: Power Snips, drawn by Nobu Ootsuki, started in 2013 and has two tankoubon volumes as of 2019.
