A fifth new character visual and short commercial have been revealed for the original TV anime series Mayonaka Punch, which highlights the money loving Tokage (voiced by Hitomi Ueda), who also has a deep love of gambling. The anime is scheduled to premiere in July 2024.
Ueda joins a main voice cast that has so far included:
- • Ikumi Hasegawa as Masaki
- • Fairouz Ai as Live
- • Yuina Ito as Ichiko
- • Hina Yomiya as Fu
Each character had their own visuals and 15-second commercials released throughout the week.
Osamu Honma (Ya Boy Kongming!) is directing the anime series, with Harapeko Penguin Troupe’s Shirasaka Hideaki (Ya Boy Kongming! co-scriptwriter) as series screenwriter, Ryouta Arima (Hell’s Paradise co-chief animation director) as character designer, and Tsukasa Kotobuki (NG Kishi Ramune & 40 DX: Wakuwaku Jikuu – Honoo no Daisousasen character designer, Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island co-character designer) as original character designer. P.A. Works is in charge of the animation production.
A manga adaptation by Tomomi Usui was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine on March 4, 2024. A novel adaptation has also been announced and will be published at a later date.
Mayonaka Punch is an original anime series, described as a girls comedy that follows a group of “NewTubers” who create and upload videos to the “NewTube” sharing website.
