The upcoming four-part Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture anime has received its first full-length trailer and a main visual, with the former including a preview of the ending theme “Roze” by Hikari Mitsushima. It also has additional release date details and more info about the cast.

Reina Ueda is voicing Sakuya Sumeragi, the captive daughter of Hokkaido’s murdered leader. Other voice actors in the show include Kana Ichinose, Hiroki Yasumoto, Nao Toyama, Yumi Uchiyama, Daisuke Hirakawa, Yasuyuki Kase, and more.

For the release schedule, Part 1 of Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture will premiere in Japanese theaters on May 10, 2024. The other parts will be released on June 7, July 5, and August 2. Also, Disney+ will stream the show in 12 episodes, worldwide, beginning in late June.

Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture is set in the seventh year of the Kouwa era and follows brothers Roze (Kouhei Amasaki) and Ash (Makoto Furukawa), who team up with a Japanese resistance force to face Neo Britannica and free Sakuya. Ash is the older brother, who pilots a Knightmare Frame and has incredible physical ability and piloting skills. In contrast, Roze has a sharp mind and focuses on information gathering and commanding.

The original Code Geass anime series, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, ran from 2006 to 2007, while the second season Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 begin airing in 2008. The franchise also includes OVAs, a film series, the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled spin-off series, and various light novels, manga, and video games.

Crunchyroll describes the main series as:

The year is 2017 of the Imperial calendar and parts of the world are under the control of the Holy Britannian Empire. Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled Britannian prince, encounters a strange girl known as C.C., who gifts him with a great and terrible power. The Geass. With this powerful ability, Lelouch can get anyone to do as he wills. But the power of Geass: is it a blessing…or a curse?

Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture was originally titled Code Geass: Z of the Recapture. Comic Natalie reported that the title was changed due to world affairs (the ongoing invasion of Ukraine saw the “Z” symbol being used by Russia).
