A second PV trailer has been revealed for the upcoming Re:Monster TV anime series, which previews the main opening and ending themes. The series will premiere in Japan on April 4, 2024, and stream early on Crunchyroll, Japanese U-NEXT, and Anime Hodai on April 1, 2024.

The trailer highlights the main opening theme “Into the Fire” by CHANSUNG (2PM) & AK-69 feat. CHANGMIN (2AM) and the ending theme ”Sadame” by EverdreaM, as well as the monster mercenary group Parabellum. 

Nene Hieda was also revealed to be joining the voice cast in the trailer. She will play the role of the tomboy princess Rubilia, whom Goburo encounters on his journey.

Hieda joins an anime voice cast that includes:

  • • Mai Kanno as The Redhead
  • • Aya Yamane as Hobsei

  • • Hisako Toujo as the Alchemist

Takayuki Inagaki (Birdie Wing -Golf Girls’ Story-) is directing the anime adaptation, with Hiroshi Yamaguchi (Grimms Notes the Animation) as screenwriter, Junichi Takaoka (Choujuushin Gravion) as character designer, and Go Sakabe (Kizuna no Allele) as music composer. Studio DEEN is the animation production company. 

The original light novels are written by Kogitsune Kanekiru and published by Alphapolis from August 7, 2012 to August 3, 2017. Most of the Re:Monster books are illustrated by Yamaada, with NAJI yanagida illustrating the “Dark Continent” installments. Ten volumes have been released as of August 2017, which includes a side story and extra volume. 

Before becoming a light novel series, Re:Monster started as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro that ran from 2011 until 2018. The “Dark Continent” story arc began on July 2, 2018 and has three volumes released as of July 2020, with a 4th volume due out on March 31, 2024.

A manga adaptation by Haruyoshi Kobayakawa was released in 2014, with 10 tankobon volumes released as of September 2023. An 11th volume is set for release on March 31, 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga adaptation in English for North America. 

Crunchyroll will stream Re:Monster worldwide, describing the main story as: 

After meeting an untimely death, Tomokui Kanata is reincarnated as a lowly goblin, but he’s worked up a monstrous appetite. Thanks to his new ability that allows him to grow stronger the more he feeds, his feeble status quickly changes, and he rises to become the goblin leader. With a mix of his past memories, new body, and strong stomach, he’s taking a bite out of this new fantastical world!
