The upcoming Blue Lock The Movie -Episode Nagi- has released a 30-second “Nagi ‘Kakusei’ (Awakening) PV” a week before its April 19 Japanese premiere.
Blue Lock -Episode Nagi- is a spin-off of soccer series Blue Lock with Seishiro Nagi as the point-of-view character. The manga debuted in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on June 9, 2022 and will release its fourth tankoubon volume on April 17, 2024.
The main Blue Lock manga series started serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on August 1, 2018 and has 28 volumes as of March 15, 2024. Kodansha USA describes the premise as:
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
Both Blue Lock and -Episode Nagi- are written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro. The former is illustrated by Yuusuke Nomura, and the latter by Kota Sannomiya. Blue Lock received a TV anime adaptation that began in October 2022 and ran for 24 episodes. A second season is in production.
