Magic the Gathering Is Adding Hatsune Miku Cards

Fans of both Hatsune Miku and Magic the Gathering can rejoice, as the popular vocaloid is coming to the also-popular trading card game starting this month via its Secret Lair sub-brand. 

Wizards of the Coast announced last week that there will be four Hatsune Miku drops, each themed after a different season. The first is Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar, which WotC says is inspired “by the cherry blossoms and lightning of a Japanese spring.” This drop will be part of the game’s Spring Superdrop 2024 and will be purchasable from May 13 at 9 AM PT to June 2 at 11:59 PM PT while supplies are available. 

Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar contains six cards: Shelter; Miku’s Spark (a renamed Chandra’s Ignition), Harmonize; Miku, Lost but Singing (a renamed Azusa, Lost but Seeking); Miku, the Renowned (a renamed Feather, the Redeemed); and Inspiring Vantage. Jehan Choo, Justyna Dura, Mandy Jurgens, Dani Pendergast, Yuko Shimizu, and 出利/SYUTSURI are the artists for this drop.

The non-foil version of Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar will cost US$29.99, while the Rainbow foil version will be priced at US$39.99. WotC is releasing the drop in both English and Japanese.

Secret Lair has had collaborations with names like Street Fighter, Godzilla, and Junji Ito in the past. The first drop debuted in December 2019. 

The remaining Hatsune Miku drops will be released this year as part of other Secret Lair superdrops.
