The new Code Geass anime, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, has received its second trailer and key visual, with the former including a preview of the opening theme song “Running In My Head” by MIYAVI.

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture begins in the seventh year of the Kouwa era and follows the mercenary brothers Rozé and Ash, who join forces with a Japanese resistance force to fight against Neo Britannica and free Sakuya Sumeragi, the captive daughter of Hokkaido’s murdered leader. Ash is an excellent Knightmare pilot, while Rozé uses his intellect for negotiations, information gathering, and strategy.

The anime has a four-part theatrical release in Japan, with the respective release dates being May 10, June 7, July 5, and August 2. It will also be streamed worldwide on Disney+ release as a 12-episode series starting in late June.

The Code Geass franchise started in 2006 with Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, which ran from 2006 to 2008 with two seasons. After the original series came OVAs, a recap film series with continuity differences, a sequel to the recaps titled Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection, and the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled spin-off series. The franchise also includes light novels, manga, and video games.

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture was originally subtitled Z of the Recapture. Comic Natalie reported that the title was changed in light of world affairs (the “Z” symbol was used by Russia during its invasion of Ukraine).
