TOHO has acquired anime production studio Science SARU.
An official post on the Science SARU website said that a capital alliance deal has been inked. Gamebiz reported that TOHO will acquire all of the animation outfit’s shares on June 19 and make it a subsidiary.
Science SARU was co-founded by anime director Masaaki Yuasa and current president Eun Young Choi in 2013. The studio has produced shows like The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Lu Over the Wall, Devilman Crybaby, Ride Your Wave, The Heike Story, and Inu-Oh. Upcoming titles include the new Naoko Yamada film The Colors Within and a TV anime adaptation of the Dandadan manga.
Some of the recent anime that TOHO has had involvement with include Kaiju No.8, My Hero Academia Season 7, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, and Spy x Family: Code White.
