The main theme songs and additional cast members have been revealed for the A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero TV anime series. The anime will air in Japan with a double episode premiere on July 6, 2024, with the second episode onward being streamed a week early on the ABEMA streaming service.
The anime’s opening theme is “Up Start” by Amatsuki and the ending theme is “Strobe Fantasy” by May’n.
Meanwhile, the additional cast members joining the series include Yoshino Aoyama as Airi Jinguuji, Saika Kitamori as Miku Moriyama, and Azusa Tsugimori as Hikari Tanabe.
They join an anime voice cast that so far includes:
- • Yuuya Hozumi as Kaito Takagi
- • Kana Hanazawa as Sylphie
- • Azumi Waki as Haruka Katsuragi
- • Mayu Sagara as Luceria
Tomoki Kobayashi (Remake Our Life) is directing the anime, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess) as screenwriter, Sachiko Yasuda (Our Happy Marriage) as character designer, and Keiji Inai (Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion) as music composer. Gekko is in charge of the animation production.
The anime adaptation is based on the fantasy light novels written by Kaito and illustrated by Arumikku, which first began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro on April 9, 2019. It was then published by Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko imprint on July 1, 2021 and has released eight volumes as of February 2024. The light novels also inspired a manga adaptation by Terio Teri in August 2021.
The light novel’s Japanese title is Mob Kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyuu Tan, which roughly translates to the unofficial English title The Story of An Exploration Hero Who Has Worked His Way Up From Common People.
A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero is centered on average high school student Kaito Takagi, who is your typical mob background character. One day, mysterious dungeons begin popping up in Japan, and Kaito starts hunting slimes every day while admiring his childhood friend from afar. His luck changes after he defeats a gold slime, which gives him a super rare summoning item called the Servant Card. Using his newfound treasure, he summons a beautiful warrior maiden to change his fortunes around.
