McDonald’s Japan has released a number of 15-second anime commercials featuring Kiki from Kiki’s Delivery Service on its YouTube channel.
The items advertised by the commercials are McDonald’s Japan’s new European Burgers: the German Potato Nikuatsu Beef, the Peperon Juicy Hot Chicken, and the Bouillabaisse-style Shrimp. They’ll be available from June 26 to late July JST.
Kiki in the commercial is voiced by Aoi Yuki, while her cat Jiji is voiced by Daisuke Sakaguchi. The characters will also be featured on the products’ packaging.
A 30-second commercial will be broadcasted on Japanese television starting June 25.
Kiki’s Delivery Service was originally a children’s novel by Eiko Kadono. Studio Ghibli produced a Hayao Miyazaki-directed anime movie adaptation that was released in 1989.
