Undead Unluck will be receiving a brand new one-hour anime special scheduled to premiere in Winter 2025. A new “super teaser visual” and trailer for the special were also released.
The anime’s two cour first season aired for a total of 24 episodes. The first cour premiered on October 7, 2023 in Japan until December 23, 2023. The second cour aired from January 6, 2024 to March 23, 2024. The series is streamed internationally on Hulu and Disney+.
Some of the first season’s main production staff consisted of Yuuki Yase (Fire Force Season 1, Mekaku City Actors) as director, Hideyuki Morioka (Fire Force) as character designer and chief animation director, and Kenichiro Suehiro (Fire Force, The Eminence in Shadow) as music composer. David Production was in charge of the animation production for the series.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

- • Natsuki Hanae as Shen
- • Mariya Ise as Juiz
- • Ayumu Murase as Chikara Shigeno
- • Yuuki Kaji as Rip
- • Ikumi Hasegawa as Latla
The anime is based on the action manga series by Yoshifumi Tozuka, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on January 20, 2020 and has released 21 tankobon volumes as of May 2024. A 22nd volume is due out on August 2, 2024.
The manga has also inspired the release of two novels in 2023, respectively.
Viz Media releases the Undead Unluck manga in English for North America, describing the synopsis as:
