A new special visual has been released for the currently airing My Deer Friend Nokotan, which features Noko Shikanoko as a strong action hero. The 5th episode is scheduled to air in Japan on August 4, 2024 and first premiered on July 7, 2024.
Masahiko Ota (Gabriel Dropout, Himouto! Umaru-chan, Love Lab, Yuru Yuri Season 1 and 2) is directing the anime series, with Takashi Aoshima (The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You; Synduality Noir) as screenwriter and scriptwriter, Ayumu Tsujimura (Onipan! main animator) as character designer, and Yasuhiro Misawa (Onipan!, Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!) as music composer. WIT STUDIO is handling the animation production for the series.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

- • Saki Fujita as Torako Koshi/Koshitan
- • Rui Tanabe as Anko Koshi/Anko
- • Fuka Izumi as Meme Bashame/Bashame
- • Kosuke Toriumi as the Narrator
Remow is streaming the anime on multiple services such as Crunchyroll, Prime Video, ADN, Anime Onegai, and more in over 140 countries and territories.
The anime adaptation is based on the comedy manga by Oshioshio (the character designer of hololive VTuber Amane Kanata), which was first serialized in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge from November 15, 2019 to October 17, 2023. It was then moved to the online webcomic website Magazine Pocket on December 20, 2023. Six tankobon volumes have been released as of July 2024.
Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga in English for North America, describing the synopsis as:
No one knows Torako used to be a delinquent. All of her classmates only know her as the perfect student. But everything changes when Nokotan, a transfer student with antlers, enters her life. Antlers aren’t the only thing strange about Nokotan. Her deer nose can sniff out Torako’s secret past! Whether it’s at school or the zoo, chaos follows this doe-eyed girl’s every step. Torako has so many questions! Is Nokotan a deer, a girl, or something in-between?
