The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will be screened in Japanese theaters in 2025 as a compilation movie.
The prequel arc will also be featured in an upcoming guidebook together with its release-order follow-up, the “Shibuya Incident Arc.” The guidebook, which contains production design material and staff/cast commentary, will launch on October 4, 2024 JST.
A promotional visual for the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” compilation movie has been released.
The new information was announced at Juju Fest 2024, where it was also revealed that the Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade mobile game will make its way overseas this year.
Aside from these announcements, a countdown movie was released for the anime’s source material, Gege Akutami‘s soon-to-conclude Jujutsu Kaisen manga, which has five chapters to go. The manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018, after the release of a four-chapter predecessor that is now known as Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” kicked off Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, which had Shota Goshozono (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking of Kings Episode 21, and Chainsaw Man Episode 8 storyboard artist and episode director) taking over as director from Sunghoo Park, on July 6, 2023. The arc follows the powerful fan-favourite character Satoru Gojo and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 villain Suguru Geto during their teenage days, as they embark on a vital mission whose conclusion has major consequences for their relationship and the setting. After the arc ended, the MAPPA-produced anime took a few weeks off before resuming with the “Shibuya Incident Arc.”
An anime adaptation of the manga’s “Culling Game Arc” was announced after Season 2 ended.
Viz Media describes the manga as:
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
