The Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective TV anime adaptation (or Ameku Takao’s Detective Karte) has received its first trailer and a January 2025 premiere window.
The trailer gives us a look at protagonist Takao Ameku, a brilliant doctor at Tenikai General Hospital’s special department that deals with tricky-to-diagnose cases, and reveals that the first two episodes will have original content written by the mystery novels’ author Mikito Chinen.
Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective‘s staff credits, main cast, and first key visual were also revealed. Among the former are Kazuya Iwata (7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!) as director with Satoru Sugisawa (Why Does Nobody Remember Me in this World?) as series composer and co-scriptwriter, Yuka Takashina as the main character designer (Ishura co-character designer), and Tomoyuki Harada as medical supervisor. project No.9 is the animation production studio.
The voice cast includes:
• Ayane Sakura as Takao Ameku
• Kensho Ono as Yu Takanashi
• Manaka Iwami as Mai Konoike
• Nana Mizuki as Mazuru Ameku
• Fumihiko Tachiki as Owashi Ameku
The first Ameku Takao book was released in 2014. Between then and 2022, 13 volumes were published by Shinchosha. In October 2023, Jitsugyo no Nihonsha announced that it would be releasing three new volumes and 13 kanzenbans across seven consecutive months. April 2024 saw the launch of Terror at Absolute Zero: Ameku Takao’s Crime Karte, the 16th new Ameku Takao novel, and the kanzenban The Organ Organizer: Ameku Takao’s Crime Karte.
Noizi Ito illustrated the novels. An Ameku Takao’s Detective Kare manga adaptation drawn by Hiroki Ohara ran from 2016 to 2018 and was collected into four tankoubon volumes. A Kodansha-published manga adaptation of the Angel of Death in the Sphere volume by Eri Takanashi began this year.
