Animator AtenaHena, who has participated in anime productions like Girls’ Frontline‘s opening, Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister (as Episode 7’s eyecatch artist), and A Couple of Cuckoos, recently released their thesis short film, Runaways.
The roughly minute-long short follows two girls and features a painterly aesthetic that lends depth to the drawings. Aside from the animation, AtenaHena took care of the backgrounds and editing.
The short uses the song “Kokoro ni Kumo o Motsu Shounen” by Sunny Day Service.

Aside from the aforementioned productions, AtenaHena has worked with Texas-based Powerhouse Animation and produced plenty of fan animation. Among the latter are an Attack on Titan music video, an Avatar: The Last Airbender anime opening, and an animation of Hatsune Miku and… Shrek.
