Tapas Entertainment and Crunchyroll have announced that an anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End is set for release in 2025. The announcement was confirmed during the series’ panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, with original series author TurtleMe in attendance.
Crunchyroll will stream The Beginning After the End worldwide, including India, but excluding the rest of Asia. In addition to a trailer, a key visual for the series was released, along with the launch of an official Twitter account and an official website.
Keitaro Motonaga (Date A Live, Katanagatari) is directing the anime adaptation, with Takamitsu Kono (Utawarerumono, A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special) as series screenwriter, Masami Sueoka (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human) as character designer, and Keiji Inai (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) as music composer. Studio A-CAT is handling the animation production for the series, with Slow Curve credited with the general production.
TurtleMe (the pseudonym of writer Brandon Lee) is closely involved in the adaptation as story supervisor and as an executive producer. Tapas’ Mike Zhu, Kevin Nicklaus, and Gabrielle Luu are also credited as executive producers for the series.
TurtleMe’s series first began as a web novel published by Tapas on January 18, 2017. Fuyuki23 provided the illustrations for the novel and the webtoon comic adaptation, which began serialization on Tapas ’website on July 7, 2018. Six print volumes have been released as of August 2024.
Fuyuki23 ceased illustrating artwork for the webtoon series in June 2023 due to conflict in payment structures.
