The Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising anime film has received its second teaser trailer, titled “SIDE Homura.”

The new footage in the teaser includes a shot of a fallen Homura, and a cut where a large, shadowy lizard entity dives into her and seemingly causes a peculiar set of wings to emerge from her back.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Walpurgisnacht Rising- is currently set to debut in winter 2025, following a delay from its winter 2024 release window. It was first announced in April 2021. The film continues the story that began with the 2011 TV anime  Puella Magi Madoka Magica and originally ended with the 2013 sequel film Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion.

Crunchyroll describes the original TV series as:

She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny- This is a beginning of the new story of the magical witch girls.

Beyond the main Madoka Magica anime, the now-defunct Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story spin-off game had a TV anime adaptation, which began with a 2020 first season and ended in April 2022 with the four-episode Final Season (the second season had eight episodes). A new Madoka Magica game, Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra, is set to be released this year.
