The previously announced remake of the To-Heart high-school rom-com visual novel will be released in Spring 2025 for Nintendo Switch and Steam.
The news was originally revealed at developer Aquaplus‘ Dai Aquaplus Sai -30th Anniversary- event, which was held over the weekend. The event also saw the unveiling of the remake’s opening video and the announcement that the characters will now be rendered in full 3D.
The remake’s opening song is “Feeling Heart,” which was introduced with the 1999 PlayStation 1 version of the visual novel, but is now sung by YURIKA instead of Masami Nakatsukasa. To-Heart was first released for PC in 1997 prior to the various PlayStation ports.
MobyGames describes the premise as:
In this game, the player controls Fujita Hiroyuki, a high-school student who seems to have more interest in romance than in his studies. In his school there are several pretty girls, and his goal is to be nice to one of them, make the right decisions when talking to her, and ultimately win her heart.
To Heart is a visual novel: the player reads text and looks at CG images, occasionally prompted to choose a response or an action out of several available ones. These decisions determine the outcome of the story. Each girl has her own “path” and ending, with various degrees of difficulty to attain.
The PC version of the game has explicit adult content. Subsequent console and handheld releases remove adult scenes and add voice acting to the game.
The visual novel inspired a 1999 anime series of the same name and 2004’s To Heart 〜Remember my Memories〜 anime series.
