Takibi Amamori‘s Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! is the first place holder of the This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2025 ranking’s general category.

Additionally, the Gagaga Bunko series’ illustrator, Imigirumu, took the top spot in the illustrator category, while male protagonist Kazuhiko Nukumizu was the winner of the male character category. Heroine Anna Yanami placed second in the female character category, losing to The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten‘s Mahiru Shiina.

Elsewhere, Daken‘s Dare ga Yuusha o Koroshita ka (Who Killed the Hero?) was named as the top new work. The Sneaker Bunko series, which is illustrated by toi8, also achieved second place in the bunko category. 

Hisaya Amagishi‘s Dahlia in Bloom: Crafting a Fresh Start with Magical Tools, published under the MF Books label and illustrated by Kei, was the winner of the tankoubon/novel ranking.

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! debuted in July 2021 and has seven main volumes and a short story anthology as of July 2024. It inspired a manga adaptation by Itachi and a recent TV anime. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the plot as:

Plain, boring, and friendless Nukumizu Kazuhiko has witnessed something completely baffling: popular girl Yanami Anna was friend-zoned by her childhood friend and crush! In fact, all the popular girls around him are getting similarly rejected by the boys they like.
