Shin Samuraiden Yaiba, the new anime adaptation of Gosho Aoyama‘s Yaiba manga, will begin airing in April 2025. A second teaser trailer and new cast info were also revealed.

The cast additions are Katsuyuki Konishi as Kenjuro Kurogane, the father of protagonist Yaiba, and Junichi Suwabe as Musashi Miyamoto.

The Yaiba manga was serialized from 1988 to 1993 in Shonen Sunday and and was the winning title of the 38th Shogakukan Manga Award Children’s category. The titular character is a young samurai-in-training.

The manga, which has been picked up by Viz Media, previously inspired a Pastel-produced anime series that ran from 1993 to 1994. The new anime will have Aoyama’s full supervision.
