A new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released for the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime film, which will begin screening in North American theaters on December 13, 2024.
The featurette video showcases some rough draft designs of scenes in the film, as well interviews with director Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus co-director, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), lead stars Gaia Wise and Laurence Ubong Williams, and producers Phillipa Boyens, Jason DeMarco, and Joseph Chou.
Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou are writing the screenplay for The War of the Rohirrim, which is based on an original story by The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. Warner Bros. Animation and Sola Entertainment are producing the film.

The latest film in The Lord of the Rings franchise will be released and distributed by Warner Bros’ New Line Cinema production studio, which describes the main story as:
Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg — a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
