A new character illustration and PV trailer have been released for the upcoming I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class TV anime series, spotlighting the main heroine Akane Sakuramori. The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan on January 3, 2025.

The anime’s official website also recently announced that voice actress Kaori Maeda will be voicing Maho, who is a younger student in the same school as the main cast. The character was previously revealed earlier this week, but the voice actress was not yet confirmed.

Hiroyuki Oshima (Black Butler: Public School Arc Episode 2 and Stardust Telepath Episode 10 storyboard artist) will be directing the anime adaptation, with Tatsuya Takahashi (The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of the Rust Mountains) as series screenwriter, Nanako Tatsu (Date A Live V assistant character designer) as character designer, Miyabi Ozeki (World’s End Harem character designer) as sub-character designer, and Arisa Okehazama (The Apothecary Diaries co-composer) as music composer. Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ are handling the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:
- • Shogo Sakata as Saito Hojo
- • Sayumi Suzushiro as Himari Ishikura
- • Nene Hieda as Shisei Hojo
- • Hochu Otsuka as Tenryu Hojo
- • Fumi Hirano as Chiyo Sakuramori
The anime is based on the light novels written by Seiju Amano and illustrated by Nanami Narumi, which was first published by Media Factory’s MF Bunko J imprint on December 25, 2020 and has released nine volumes as of August 2024. The series originally began as a voice narrated manga that was released on YouTube.
A manga adaptation by Mosskonbu was released in 2021 and has released six tankobon volumes as of September 2024. Narumi and Mosskonbu both also have original character designer credits for the anime.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga adaptation under the title I Got Married to the Girl I Hate Most in Class for an English release. It describes the main premise as:
Archenemies Hojou Saito and Sakuramori Akane are notorious across their high school for their bitter rivalry. Every day is a new battleground, filled with constant bickering and fiery clashes. But everything changes when Saito’s domineering grandfather delivers a shocking ultimatum: marry his rival, or lose the family business to the dog! Reluctantly, Saito agrees, and to his surprise — so does Akane.
Now, the two must navigate life as an unlikely couple, sharing a house, meals, and even a bed…without tearing each other apart! Can they keep their embarrassing marriage a secret from their classmates? And what could have possibly motivated Akane to agree to this arrangement in the first place?
