The anime music video for the YOASOBI song “New Me,” which was used for a commercial for the human resources company Recruit, has been released on the music unit’s YouTube channel.

Havtza storyboarded and directed the video and designed its characters. They were also involved in the animation, backgrounds, and compositing.

pH Studio produced the animation with Andraft.inc, Studio HOMARE, Sephora Design Haus, SOUND COLORS’ AURA MIX brand, Michael Tanaka, and Kobayashi Atsuhiro credited for animation production collaboration. The animation producers are Sachiko Kondo and Yukimasa Morimura, who were both credited with CG produce cooperation for Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen.

The inspiration for “New Me” is the story The Hakusan Street Incident by Mado Arite  which was the Monocon 2023 Bungei x Monogatary.com Short Story Award’s grand prize winner. Amazon describes the premise of Arite’s work, which has been translated into multiple languages, as:

Under pressure from her male colleagues, Nozomi reluctantly signs up for a dating app in hopes of getting them off her back. What she finds isn’t a date, but an assassin. What follows is a thrilling chase and a dramatic confrontation that leads Nozomi to discover unexpected truths about herself. The short story received huge praise from Hitomi Kanehara, the head of the competition’s judging panel.
