The next Mobile Suit Gundam anime series is Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, a studio khara and Sunrise co-production involving illegal mobile suit duels. An announcement trailer, teaser visual, and various details have been released.
Here’s the official premise:
Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.
When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.
Now their world is about to enter a new era.
The main cast of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX are Tomoyo Kurosawa as Amate, Yui Ishikawa as Nyaan, and Shimba Tsuchiya as Shuji Ito. The director is Kazuya Tsurumaki (FLCL and Diebuster, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time co-director, Neon Genesis Evangelion co-assistant director).
The series composition is being handled by Yoji Enokido (Bungo Stray Dogs and Revolutionary Girl Utena, FLCL scriptwriter), who is also co-writing the scripts with Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion director, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time chief director). illustrator take (Pokémon Sword and Shield co-character and Pokémon designer) has character design credits, while Ikuto Yamashita (Neon Genesis Evangelion co-mechanical designer, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time main mechanical designer) is the mechanical designer.

Prior to the series’ broadcast debut, a theatrical re-edit using some of its episodes, titled Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, will screen in Japan starting on January 17, 2025 JST.
The previous main Gundam anime series entry was 2022 to 2023’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, which introduced the Ad Stella timeline and was the first to have a female protagonist.
