Crunchyroll has announced that the majority of One Piece TV anime episodes will require a premium membership to access. The long-running anime’s first 206 episodes, spanning the East Blue to Sky Island story arcs, will remain free.
All 1122 episodes of One Piece are currently available without a paywall on Crunchyroll, but hundreds of episodes will eventually move from Crunchyroll’s free, ad-supported tier to its paid premium tier.

Starting soon, some One Piece arcs will require a Premium Membership. But the first 206 episodes (East Blue to Sky Island) will stay free, so new fans can still start Luffy’s journey at no cost.

The following story arcs will be affected and locked behind the premium membership in three periods:
- • December 23, 2024: Water 7, Thriller Bark, Summit War, and Fishman Island arcs (344 episodes)
- • January 20, 2025: Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, Zou, and Whole Cake island arcs plus 6 special episodes (305 episodes)
- • February 17, 2025: Reverie, WANO KUNI, and Egghead Island arcs (247 episodes)
The One Piece TV anime adaptation first premiered in Japan on October 20, 1999 and has broadcasted over 1000 episodes. The most recent “Egg Head Arc” began airing in January 2024, before going on break until April 2025. Toei Animation is the animation production company.
The original manga by Eiichiro Oda began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997 and has been collected into 120 tankobon volumes as of November 2024.

VIZ Media releases the manga series in English and describes the main synopsis as:
As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But his life changed when Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again!
