A fifth new skating pair visual has been unveiled for the upcoming Medalist TV anime series, highlighting Rioh Sonidori and Shinichiro Sonidori. The anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on January 4, 2025.

Yasutaka Yamamoto (The Tale of the Outcasts, Nekopara) is directing the anime adaptation, with Jukki Hanada (The Dangers in My Heart) as series screenwriter and Chinatsu Kameyama (In Another World With My Smartphone 2) as character designer and co-chief animation director. ENGI is in charge of the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

- • Kana Ichinose as Hikaru Kamisaki
- • Yuma Uchida as Jun Yodaka
- • Makoto Koichi as Rioh Sonidori

- • Megumi Toda as Mario Nachi
- • Kotori Koiwai as Ema Yamato
- • Takahiro Miyake as Yudai Jakuzure
Medalist will begin streaming on Hulu and Disney+ worldwide, outside Japan, starting in January 2025. An exact date and time for the streaming has not yet been announced.
The anime is based on the figure skating manga series by Tsurumaikada, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon on May 25, 2020 and has released 11 tankobon volumes as of August 2024.

The manga was the winner of the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2022 award in the “Comics” category and the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the “General” category.
Kodansha USA releases the Medalist manga in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Tsukasa, whose dreams were crushed. Inori, left to fend for herself. These two share a dream…and their tenacity may be the only thing that sees them through. Their destination? The ice…on the world’s stage!
