The Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? light novel series is set to head into its “final chapter” with its next volume, Volume 21. Author Fujino Omori wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the arc is titled “Shuumatsu-hen.”
The GA Bunko fantasy action series released its 20th volume on December 15, 2024 JST. It started in January 2013 and has since inspired a TV anime adaptation, an anime movie, spin-offs, manga, and mobile games. Yen Press describes the first volume of the Suzuhito Yamada-illustrated books as:
In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon. But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans. He wants to pick up girls. Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not. After one misguided adventure, Bell quickly discovers that anything can happen in the labyrinth–even chance encounters with beautiful women. The only problem? He’s the one who winds up the damsel in distress!
The Ais Wallenstein-focused spin-off, Sword Oratoria, received a 2017 TV anime adaptation and will be 15 volumes strong come January 12, 2025 JST. The TV anime adaptation of the main DanMachi (an abbreviation of the Japanese title Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru darouka) series is currently in its fifth season, after beginning in 2015.
