A new “full version” of the second PV trailer for Beheneko: The Elf-Girl’s Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster! has been released, which includes some new scenes and an introduction from cosplayer Moe Iori, who is serving as the anime’s official ambassador.

Iori introduces the “see-through-the-steam” or “full version” of the anime’s second trailer that was posted last Wednesday. Her portion of the trailer does not have English subtitles, but the trailer itself has them implemented.

The anime series will begin broadcasting on Japan TV channels Tokyo MX and Sun TV on January 4, 2025. The series’ “regular version” and “Refreshing Steam” version will both be streamed one week early on the ABEMA streaming service on December 28, 2024, with the “regular version” airing on TV on January 4 and the “Refreshing Steam” version on the AT-X channel on January 7, 2025. The show will then start streaming on other Japanese services starting on January 25, 2025.

HIDIVE will stream the series in English in select countries and territories outside of Japan on December 28.

Tetsuo Hirakawa (YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World) is directing the anime, with Tomoyuki Abe (Kimi wa Kanata) as character designer and Kanichi Kato (The Eminence in Shadow) as series screenwriter. Zero-G and Saber Works are in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

  • • Tasuku Hatanaka as Tama
  • • Riho Sugiyama as Tama (cat)
  • • Hinaki Yano as Aria
  • • Tomori Kusunoki as Vulcan
  • • Hitomi Ueda as Stella

The anime adaptation is based on the manga series by Taro Shinonome, which began serialization in Hakusensha’s Young Animal Arashi on March 2, 2018, before being transferred to Young Animal on July 13, 2018 following the end of the former magazine. Eleven tankobon volumes have been released as of March 2024, with a 12th volume set for release on December 26, 2024.

The series originally began as a web novel, which first debuted on Shosetsuka ni Naro on August 19, 2017, written by Nozomi Ginyoku (who is also credited with the manga’s story). It was then published as a light novel series with illustrations by Mitsuki Yano under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels label on March 20, 2018. Two volumes have been released as of October 2018.

Yen Press releases both the light novels and manga adaptation in English under the title I’m a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster, but Mistaken for a Cat, I Live as an Elf Girl’s Pet. It describes the latter as:

A proud knight, slain in battle, finds himself alive once more-reincarnated in the body of a fearsome behemoth. As if he wasn’t confused enough by this turn of events, apparently behemoth cubs look exactly like adorable kittens?! Even if the rest of the world sees him as soft and cuddly, he has the honor of a noble warrior and the strength of an unstoppable S-ranked monster, both of which will be put to the test as he fights to protect the beautiful elf who has taken him as her pet!
