The Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex TV anime adaptation will begin airing in July 2025. Its first trailer and key visual, plus main staff and cast details, have also been released.
Takayuki Kitagawa (Chiikawa Episode 106 to 115 storyboard artist and director) is directing Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex at LandQ Studio with Masakazu Sunagawa (Cuticle Detective Inaba) as assistant director, Kenta Ihara (Blue Miburo) as series composer and scriptwriter, and Akiko Sato (A Condition Called Love) as character designer.
The lead cast members are Rena Motomura as Marie and Daiki Hamano as Kyuros.
Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex began as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel by Tobirano in 2019. The anime is based on Chikage Nakakura‘s manga adaptation of the light novel series (both published by Futabasha) illustrated by Mai Murasaki (who is listed as original character designer in the anime’s credits). Pocket Comics describes the manga as:
With unmaintained red hair and shabby clothes, Marie, the baron’s daughter, has been treated like a servant all her life. Count Granado, the country’s richest man, who is said to be a difficult misogynist, falls in love with her at first sight. However, due to a misunderstanding, Count Granado proposes to her sister Anastasia, who looks like a princess, instead of the ragged Marie. A very popular work from “Become a Novelist”! Marie’s Cinderella story that began with a hero’s misunderstanding!
