More details for the Takopi’s Original Sin anime adaptation have emerged, revealing its main staff, main cast, and a 2025 premiere date. A teaser trailer has also been released.
Shinya Ino (Dr.STONE and Dr. STONE STONE WARS director, Made in Abyss assistant director et al.) is handling direction and series composition for the ENISHIYA production, while Keita Nagahara (Assault Lily Bouquet assistant director, Massara director et al.) is the character designer. Kurumi Mamiya is playing the titular alien Takopi, with Reina Ueda as main heroine Shizuka.
Takopi’s Original Sin is based on the manga by TAIZAN 5, which began serialization on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump+ in 2021. MangaPlus describes the premise as:
Takopi travels from his home of Happy Planet to spread happiness across Earth, but meets the unsmiling Shizuka upon landing. Her friends at school and home life seem to be the source of her somber expression, and the pure-hearted Takopi is determined to change things for the better! But what truths await him when the curtains rise in this shocking drama?!
The manga released its second and final volume in 2022.
