A new key visual has been unveiled for the ongoing short TV anime series Tono to Inu, which features the series’ main cast of characters. The short series has been airing four different versions of the show with different voice actors for the protagonist since October 10, 2024.

The official Tono to Inu YouTube channel also currently lists the series under the English title The corgi and the samurai.

Haruki Kasugamori (Astro Note, Dragon Goes House-Hunting) is directing the anime series, with Shun Miyazaki as music composer and Noriyoshi Konuma (The Dangers in My Heart) as sound director. OLM and Live2D Creative Studio are in charge of the animation production for the series.
Rie Nishida’s historical comedy manga was first launched as a short series on Flex Comix’s Comic Polaris manga website on March 18, 2021. It was then serialized on October 14, 2021. Four tankobon volumes have been released as of October 2024.

Tono to Inu follows a former warrior of the Sengoku period named Tono, who has fallen on hard times since his glory days. One day, he comes across a peculiar stray dog and decides to adopt him as part of his newfound peaceful life.
