Crunchyroll has announced that it will be launching a new manga app called “Crunchyroll Manga” later this year, as part of a new premium option for subscribers. It will be released as a standalone app on iOS and Android devices in the U.S. and Canada, and will feature many manga titles from various publishers.
Crunchyroll Manga is described as being designed to complement current Crunchyroll memberships. It will be offered as a premium add-on, with web browser integration also planned for the future.
The app’s announcement was made by company president Rahul Purini during Sony Group Corporation’s press conference at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. An anime adaptation of the Ghost of Tsushima video game was also announced there.
Manga on Crunchyroll Manga will debut in English first, with more language options being offered in the future as the app expands in conjunction with Crunchyroll’s streaming service.
The previous iteration of Crunchyroll Manga was first launched on the service on October 30, 2013, and featured several manga titles from Japanese publishers Futabasha, Kodansha, Kadokawa Shoten and Shonen Gahosha. It was shut down on December 11, 2023.
Some manga series serialized on the service included Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Orange, The Seven Deadly Sins, and Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches, among other titles.
