NBC Universal Entertainment Japan has announced the cessation of sales for the Whisper Me A Love Song anime’s Blu-rays, citing the company’s “circumstances.”

The four Blu-ray volumes were previously supposed to be released during the last four months of 2024 (at a pace of one volume per month). When the TV anime ran into issues that required its episodes to be delayed, the Blu-rays had their release period pushed to January to April 2025, which they will now miss as well.

Whisper Me A Love Song exhibited outward signs of trouble before it began airing, when its January 2024 premiere was moved to April 2024. That was accompanied by Akira Mano (Ghost HuntGunslinger Girl: -Il Teatrino-) assuming the director’s credit due to original director Xinya Cai‘s (The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt assistant director) health. Furthermore, Yokohama Animation Lab had its animation production supervisor credit upgraded so that it shared the animation production credit with Cloud Hearts,

In June 2024, Whisper Me A Love Song‘s ninth episode was moved back from June 8 JST to June 22 JST due to “production circumstances.” Later, Episodes 11 and 12 were pushed all the way to December 2024.

In late October 2024, ITmedia reported that the Cloud Hearts website had become inaccessible, and that its domain was listed as “Deleted” on WHOIS. ITmedia also noted that Cloud Hearts had not been mentioned on Yokohama Animation Lab’s website as a business partner (the former was formed in 2021 as a split-up of the latter) since May 2024. Currently, Yokohama Animation Lab’s “Other Business” section where Cloud Hearts was once listed under does not exist.

Whisper Me A Love Song is based on the yuri romance manga by Eku Takeshima, which began serialization in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime in 2019 and has 10 tankoubon volumes as of July 2024. Kodansha USA describes the manga as:

Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means…
